Getting Ready for Your First Meeting

getting-ready-to-take-a-leapGreat news! You do not need to bring anything to a first meeting, unless you want to. Mostly we are going to talk. I am eager to listen and learn so that we can both figure out whether it makes sense to work together beyond this meeting. That said, if you are eager to share or you have questions about particular documents, it could be helpful to bring things like these:

  • Statements - investments, insurance
  • Loan documents
  • Documents related to real estate or other holdings
  • Any other finance-related material about which you may have questions or concerns

WHERE TO FIND US:

Our offices are conveniently located across from Eastern Market on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, at 210 7th St SE, Suite 202, zip 20003. There is street parking throughout the neighborhood. Close in, you’ll find metered spaces (I recommend the Park Mobile app if you don’t already use it.) If you go a block or more in any direction you’ll find free 2-hour street parking (Zone 6 stickers are exempt from the 2-hour limit).

We are located just two blocks north of the Eastern Market Metro Station (Orange, Blue, Silver lines), and near Circulator and Metro bus stops all along Pennsylvania Ave, SE. There are Capital Bike Share stations nearby, as well.

HOW TO GET IN:

Phillips Financial Strategies is located on the second floor (elevator or stairs), accessible by walking through the courtyard entrance toward the rear of the building. To gain entrance to PFS, enter the code 001* (PGN Architects). When prompted,  announce that you are there to see William Phillips or have an appointment at Phillips Financial Strategies. They’ll buzz you in. Come on up and proceed to the right of the elevators/stairs.

HOW TO PREPARE:

Unless you and William determine otherwise in advance, you really don’t need to bring anything special with you at this time. But here is what you can think about ahead of time:

“What things in my financial life are most important to me?”

The things that come to mind can say a lot about setting priorities and putting together a plan to build and protect those things that matter most to you and the ones you love.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Conversation about financial things that matter to you. A chance to be listened to and assured that your goals, dreams, and concerns are taken seriously. You may even meet Heaven (No, not a near death experience. Heaven is William’s extremely mild-mannered dog, often found snoozing in the office.)

AMENITIES AND GOODIES:

  • Coffee and beverages.
  • Free wi-fi.
  • A charging station for your digital devices.
  • A quiet place to work or make a few private calls if you should want to just drop in when you are in the area.

Whether you need a place to take care of a little business or put your feet up between meetings, errands, or social engagements, we hope you'll feel welcome and comfortable to stop by anytime, even without an appointment.
